Extraordinary baby noises

I am completely amazed by DS, now 5 mos. He's always been a very chatty baby and has recently started to make the most peculiar noise. The nearest I can get to it is that it sounds like a flautist who can't decide whether to play a trill or have a gargle! To me it sounds like it must be a very difficult noise to produce but I am clearly wrong as he trills and/or gargles away day and night in the cheeriest manner. It's very endearing. What are the weirdest sounds your LOs have made?

my dd is the same, shes 17 weeks now and for about 3 months has been 'chatting' away... A real rival to the dawn chorus! She makes sounds that are almost like words and moves her mouth and tongue around in all sorts of strange ways.. She also just cracks up for no reason and almost can breathe for laughing! Cant describe some of the sounds but have filmed her!

How lovely !! Aren't babies supposed to make all the noises in the world before they settle for their native language?

i think some of dds noises are alien! Lol

My DS (11mo) sounds like a little mini machine gun - "hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm ma" at the back of his throat. It's so sweet. He does it whe he goes to sleep. I love it!

My DGS gets a very serious face on and then starts talking like flipper! Honestly it sounds like a dolphin - wierd baby!! He also laughs like a wheezy asthmatic who smoke 40 cigs a day!

Ha ha ha, well finally my 9 month old DD has moved onto "Mama" but spent the last 4 months or so growling! I really thought that she was going to be a growler forever! Since she's learnt the Mama though, not a growl in sight (so to speak!).

Isn't your own DC laughing just the most amazing sound? Doesn't fail to make me smile!!

DD used to squeal like a strangle pig as a newborn in her sleep. She lasted 6 weeks with us before i couldn't stand it any more and put her in her own room!

I had images of cute baby snuffles etc....

I agree DawnAS when your baby laughs it's just incredible. I love it. DD now three, used to make hilarious noises too. I think my favourite of hers was the aaaah she used to say after sneezing.

my ds is 1 next week and he does this, I call it his singing! I can't imagine how he does it,the nearest I can get to it (and he loves it when I "reply") is rolling my r's like I used to in french class. It's very cute I think as he does it when he is very content but dh finds it irritating.
