Naughty step doesn't seem to work for us - Any other ideas?

My ds1 is 2.7yrs. I have been doing the naughty step with him since about 18 months.
He will sit there for the 2 minutes, he knows and understands he is there because he is being naughty, but when I tell him he can get up, he will say sorry to the child he pushed, carry on playing and then carry on pushing.
I know it's normal behaviour, but some days it is really bad, litterally non-stop. Today I have done nothing but tell him off and sit him in the naughty spot.
Today he also kept getting up so i ended up strapping him into ds2's pushchair each time.
Ds1 pushes, hits, shouts all the time and most days I can handle it really well and some days I want to cry.

Bless. It's so hard some days! Hang on in there, keep re-enforcing your point and using the naughty spot. If he knows what he's done is wrong and why he is sat there, then you are heading in the right direction.

Have you tried rewarding good behaviour with a star or sticker chart? 10 stars or stickers = a treat? You could also try using a naughty spot chart. Show him how many times he's been on the spot and use a limit. So, if his limit is 10 spot stops a day or whatever you think is reasonable (non, I know!) to start, and then he loses a treat or a toy or whatever might work if he reaches his daily limit, you can show him that when he has 9, he's been better and can be rewarded? Then you can reduce his limit to 9, 8, 7 trips to the spot each day or week to suit you. Show him that good behaviour is way more fun?! I did this with DD and it worked.

Just a thought.......

Mouseface Fantastic idea!!!!!!! You are a genius.
The funny thing is, that is a simialr piece of advice I have given friends for things/behaviours with their dc's. Why didn't I think of doing it myself? Because I am a fool.

I am going to print some charts off and buy some stickers tomorrow.
Fab idea. thank you
