6yo dd tantrums

Hi All,

Haven't posted for a while but would love some comfort/advice about my 6yo tantrums. My DD has had 3 maybe 4 tantrums over the past few weeks where she has been uncontorllable. Kicking, hitting, screaming at the top of her voice. They have been triggered by me saying she can't do something after a period of disobeying me. Tonight I said she couldn't watch TV as she hit her brother and threw her shoes at him when she came through the front door.

She has complained of being very tired after each incident which last about 1/2 hour.

Today was awful as I picked her up from nthe kitchen and literally threw her in the hallway and said I didn't want to speak to her until she had calmed down.

I thought tantrums were supposed to stop after they were 4ish but she just seems to get herself into a complete state.

What do you think? Is this normal?

Hi - my nearly 6 year old doing very similar - turned out she was having problems with a little girl bullying her at school and it was coming out at home in these enourmous tantrums. could be something bothering her?

She did say that a girl at school is leaving her out and being mean to her. Do you think I should say something to get teacher? Sounds similar to your situation.

if her behaviour is markedly different from her usual self then yes, It could be worth mentioning to her teacher, or even just chatting it through further with your daughter, find out if something is bothering her..?
My daughter has been much nicer since I spoke to her teacher!
