another 6 year old is obsessed with my 6 year old nephew

how normal is this? the boy won't let my nephew do anything without him, as they are in the same class, the teacher keeps them apart all the time. It was my nephew's party recently and this boy followed him everywhere, would not allow my dn to play with anyone, my dn is not a very assertive boy, so that does not help. Any views?

Perhaps some sort of friendship class at school would produce better results than simply keeping them apart... carefully managed of course.

They do play together in the playground, but they are not allowed to sit together on the carpet or when they go on outings. They are in different ability groups, so they don't do any school work together anyway. I wonder if anybody has any views..
