Expecting 2nd baby - how to juggle 2?

Never used this before so will see how this goes...have a 4yr old who is generally very good...expecting 2nd in a couple of weeks. However 1st does not let Dad do any of the routine stuff eg feeding, bathing, night time reading stories...Especially bed times, He has a huge tantrem at the mention of it, we stick to our guns and turns out to be a massive shouting match between dad and child and i end up going in as referee, calming the situ down but still making sure dad then reads stories. Help?

Stick to your guns!

Our ds's are just over 2 1/2 years apart and ds1 was very used to me doing everything at bedtime as dh used to work late very often.

Once ds2 arrived he had to get used to dh doing his bedtime story most of the time and as ds2 has got older, we now take it in turns with them both (when dh and I are both home at bedtime).

It took a while for ds1 to get used to, but now it's easy for either of us to put either (or both) ds's to bed.

I agree with IwishIwasmoreorganised and stick to your guns. My DD (aged 3) was like this when DS came along. When DS was about 6 months we told her that from now on it would be mummy one night and then daddy the next. She had a huge screaming tantrum on the first daddy night, but we stuck to our guns and threatened to reduce the number of books she had at bedtime if she continued. The second daddy night we still had a tantrum, but much reduced. Now 4 months on she doesn't bat an eyelid when it's daddy's night and in fact she professes to prefer daddy's stories

thank you - just had another massive trantrem and i forced myself to stay downstairs, seems to have now gone quiet upstairs so fingers crossed all going well. So good to have a moan and sound off on here. Thanks again for your replies. xxx
