My 16mth old still has some on her scalp. I used Almond Oil and massaged it in most days / after bath etc at times she looked like a blonde elvis ! it came out slowly but everytime she grew some more hair it came back.

I used a combination of things. The best thing for my baby was, either baby oil or oliver oil rubbed on head on a night then washed off in the morning with dentinox shampoo.

Must say didnt was off every day with shampoo, maybe every other day. But did oil every day. Came off very quickly.

I still do put oil on his head every other day though, as it did start to come back.

DS' finally gave up and mostly disappeared around 4 (although I do occasionally still check his scalp and remove any large lumps...yuk!), DD's quite a bit earlier, around 20 months. FWIW, we found very thorough hair washing (making sure the shampoo was washed off really well, not just mostly) made the biggest difference, which got a lot easier once we convinced our dcs to let us wash their hair lying back in the bath instead of with a shower or pouring water over their heads.

Thanks .
Anyone know why they get it / why some babies don't seem to have it?

Like fillybuster, my two both had it (albeit low level) at 4 years. But it gets so unnoticeable after a while you can just ignore it

It will keep coming back - just slather in oil every time & wash off well. We used olive oil & left it in (say put on for an hour or so before bath) & also agree that detinox can keep it under control once you've tacked the worst.

am interested in this thread - DS1 still has a bit (he's 3.11) and DS2 has some too, but I have been very lazy about it. Nothing I did seemed to make much difference so have been adopting the 'it will go away by itself eventually' approach

I battled with cradle cap with ds, then someone told me to put vaseline on it- it worked really well, and less slimy than oil. try it!
