Shoes- how to get them on

Ds had his first shoes which are just in time as he has started taking a few steps on his own.
I can get the shoes on fine except for the fact that he keeps scrunching his toes up!
Is there a trick to it?

No trick to it, this is just a reflex which they grow out of.

that's what i thought but the girl in the shoe shop seemed to do a much better job!

i'm assuming he'll un scrunch his toes in the shoes as long as they aren't too tight.
