DD2 - mormally a very chilled and happy baby has been a nightmare for the past week - won't let me put her down. Cries if I do. I thought she was teething or similar and was waiting for it to pass. However I went out all morning today and left her with DH. Apparently she was happy and angelic. She is now crying again all the time and refusing sit on the floor or play and wants me to pick her up.

This makes me think it isn't teeth or illness but a phase. I know separation anxiety is big at this age but as I said she seems fine with everyone else. is this commmon?

thanks

Very common, yes. My DS was seriously clingy for the whole of January. Don't worry he's back to his usual chirpy self now and your DD will be soon too.

My DS still has clingy phases at 4 they are fewer and further between and shorter as he gets older but i tend to make the most of them - i figure they'll be fewer still as he gets older and older.

Yep my 10 month old DS is like this. Crys the second I put him down. If DH is holding him then he spends the whole time trying to launch himself from DH to me. I'm sure it is a phase and will pass but in the meantime it is very draining and not much fun for DH

Yep, normal. My daughter started this at 11months, and it's not much better at 15 months (sorry) - I gather it peaks around 18months.

She's fine when I'm not in sight - stays home with her Dad while I'm at work, no issue - but whines to be picked up the second she sees me and constantly till bedtime. Weekends are long.
