My 8 year old has become scared of being alone in a room, especially, but not specifically, at night. He wouldnt go upstairs or downstairs if it means being on his own and will rope siblings into going with him if I send him upstairs to get something. Need really to know how to deal with this, coming down heavy handed and insisting he goes ends in hysterics and tears. Is the fear genuine ? Sometimes I think he has become afraid of being afraid.
