4.5mo trying to walk!!

My 4.5m old is developing v quickly - rolling over at 3m, making lots and lots of sounds at 2m onwards and very alert, then been very strong since about 3m and keeps trying to walk now at 4.5m.
She can stand and hold onto furniture.
What shall I do?
Encourage her?
If I don't stand her up, bounce her, put her in bouncer, try her walking, she cries!

Let her try then, if she wasn't ready for it she wouldn't try. I have heard on the internet of other 6 month walkers - rare, but it does happen.

Good luck if she does walk early , you'll find out its not all that great having an early walker - they have no sense.

Nothing wrong with bouncer but be wary of letting her take too much weight on her legs as the bones are still quite soft.If she pulls herself up to stand thats ok but if you stand her up and she holds on then I wouldnt do it.

Can she sit unaided? Trying to crawl? If basically you are just propping her up and she is weight-bearing on legs she may be a fair way from walking yet! Can't see any harm in encouraging her though as long as your on the look out for any loss of balance!

yep she can sit unaided since 3m

That's amazing. A 6 month baby was in the local newspaper the other day because it could walk. Sounds like our DD is heading the same way.

mumof2rugrats · 05/03/2010 20:44

my dd was crawling at 4m and walking round the funiture at 6m and walking on her own at 8m.

mixedraceparents · 05/03/2010 20:50

all of my could stand unaided at 4 months. People do say its bad for the legs and my husband made them crawl before walk but if she wants to she wants to!

Octaviapink · 05/03/2010 21:16

Gross motor skills are inherited - if you/your DP walked early, then so will your children!

noblegiraffe · 05/03/2010 21:26

How is it bad for their legs? My 6 month old has preferred to stand since he was about 4 months old. If I lie him down, he cries and thrashes around till I hold him so he's standing. If I try to sit him down, he locks his knees. Worried now!
