Thought it might be better to start a new proud thread as our kids are all progressing so wonderfully that the other thread has become large and slow to load, so here goes....

My gorgeous 10 month old DD crawled properly (and at an alarmingly high speed!) today. We now have to pull all cushions off the sofa and 'pad' the sharper edges whenever she goes on the floor! Am exceedingly proud of her, especially as many of my friends babies who are younger than DD have already showed signs of crawling/getting themselves about at around 6 months.

She also ate some daisies in the beer garden of our local country pub this afternoon, of this I am not quite so proud !!!

My ds (13 months) took his first steps yesterday in front of all of us, my mum and dad, his big sister and dh, 2 proper steps! we all cheered so loudly half the street could hear. DS looked at us like we were mad!

Not quite as amazing but my dd worked out how to go forward not just backward in her baby walker and tried to drag dh's mobile off the worktop - he had left the charger hanging off dur - then threw a strop when I moved it! Can't crawl yet though, can't wait for that...or will I live to regret those words....?

iota · 23/06/2003 15:51

TerriB · 27/06/2003 18:06

My ds who used to be the fussiest eater in the world, and who I used to dread feeding, has just polished off a large bowl of wholemeal fusilli with tomato, onion and red pepper sauce, and a chopped up apple for dessert!!!!!! He then turned to me and said 'You give me delicious food Mummy' What a star!!!!

CAM · 27/06/2003 20:09

Wot a clever clogs bk Jr

Oakmaiden · 27/06/2003 20:11

My ds sat down to his dinner to day, and exclaimed "Spinach! I LOVE spinach, don't I Mummy?" Ate everything on his plate, and then asked to finish my spinach too please.

This is a chhild who often turns his nose up at everything.

tigermoth · 28/06/2003 10:46

oakmaiden, your message reminded me - when my first son was a toddler he used to call supper time broccoli time.

bk's son - well done!

Ds, 16.5 months (in fact, nearer 17) has FINALLY started walking this week. I was beginning to wonder if he would ever get round to it, but all of a sudden he is toddling everywhere. He looks sooooo cute with the hands up in the 'I think I'm going to fall over' position. He even walked up the stairs holding onto the wall this evening.
Not so much proud as releived! He's heavy and I'm pregnant, so it is a great strain off my back!

prufrock · 30/06/2003 21:29

DD (13.5m) has taken her first three steps tonight. She has been cruising very confidently for about 3 months now, but jsut wouldn't let go. Then tonight she stayed standing when I let go of her and tottered towards me. I'm not sure which of us was more excited.

bossykate · 30/06/2003 21:31

that's great! congratulations to miss pru

eidsvold · 21/07/2003 18:45

dd (almost 1) is getting around... she is not actually crawling as such more like a wormy wriggle but boy can she move.. life as we know it is over.... we are now preparing to make a high tide mark in our living room.

She is also talking a lot - dadadadad is her first real word - very handy for nappy changes.

My heart melted last week when she put her hands up to be picked up and cuddled.

She has just come a long way in the last couple of weeks. SHe is no longer a baby... but a little toddler/wriggler on the go!!

wobblymum · 23/07/2003 13:36

my dd's only a month today so nothing as spectacular as the rest of you yet but now, every time I hold her on my shoulder she leans her head back by herself and watches my face for a while until it gets a bit too much effort, when she rests against me for a while and starts over again. It's not quite crawling or walking but as it's my first, it feels pretty special!

Not long until I should get a proper smile instead of the lopsided grin she gives me when she's managed to fill (and I mean COMPLETELY fill!) her nappy! I can't wait!

aloha · 23/07/2003 14:17

Eidvold, you dd sounds brilliant. At that age my son wasn't doing anything like that. He never crawled and didn't walk until he was 14 months or maybe even later (wish I'd kept a diary of landmarks!). She sounds a real livewire

lou33 · 08/08/2003 16:55

So proud of dd2 and ds1 today. They have always had problems with their teeth, despite brushing properly, eating and drinking the better things for them etc. Anyway ds1 has had 2 rotten teeth at the front for a couple of years now (he's 4.5), started off by falling and breaking them. Finally they have broken to the pulp, and today ds went to the dentist, and let her take them out wihtout having a general. No tears, or tantrums, he just sat there while she injected him and let her pull them. Even the dentist was surprised, she thought she would end up referring him to have a general. Then dd2 went in, as she has been having trouble with the same back tooth for ages. They drained an abcess, drilled all the decay out, packed it with antibiotics and refilled it temporarily. She did it without any injections or pain relief (she's 6.5). Both total stars.

Ds1 got a beyblade for his rewards and dd2 got an art pack.

As an aside can I ask any dentists how rare are double teeth? One of the ones removed from ds today was a double tooth, and his dentist said she's only seen about half a dozen in 28 years! Dd1 had a double tooth when she had her first set too, and always wondered why med professionals always took pictures of it. Are they really that scarce?
