Thought it might be better to start a new proud thread as our kids are all progressing so wonderfully that the other thread has become large and slow to load, so here goes....

My gorgeous 10 month old DD crawled properly (and at an alarmingly high speed!) today. We now have to pull all cushions off the sofa and 'pad' the sharper edges whenever she goes on the floor! Am exceedingly proud of her, especially as many of my friends babies who are younger than DD have already showed signs of crawling/getting themselves about at around 6 months.

She also ate some daisies in the beer garden of our local country pub this afternoon, of this I am not quite so proud !!!

Jac34 that is so nice! I'd be proud of yourself too as well as your ds's.

How lovley - bless them. Well done boys and an extra big special well done foe looking after the little boy with speech problems - that's so lovely. You must be proud as punch and rightly so.

Last month my FIL looked after DD for the day whilst I had to go to Birmingham. When I got home he told me that she had practically dragged him up the stairs when she wanted a clean nappy.
Last week I bought a potty and have been sitting her on it everytime I change her nappy. Tonight when I was getting her ready for bed she went into the bathroom and sat on the potty herself before I had taken her nappy off. Once I had taken it off sat her on the potty again, when she got off it a minute or so later I saw that she had done a wee wee. I was so proud that I phoned my mum and also the inlaws.
Do you think she is ready for proper potty training?

JanHR · 19/10/2003 08:44

I thought DD doing a wee wee in te potty last night was possiblty a fluke, but this morning her nappy was bone dry and she wee weed in the potty again.

Proud of ds1, ds 2 and me - yesterday afternoon saw both sons happily, I repeat happily, painting pictures and models for a whole hour, withiout much intervention from me, while I cleaned out a kitchen cupboard.

My oldest ds likes painting but this is the first ever time my youngest ds had enjoyed it independently for anything like this long. And as for cleaning out a cupboard, that's a very rare occurance for me as well. I fleetingly felt like a perfect mother.

I've posted this on another thread but early last week my DD took her first steps (14mo). Now that she is on her feet there is literally no stopping her.

Dd got awarded star of the week from school on Friday because she learnt all of her letter sounds and could write them clearly and her own name without her name card

She's only been going to school since September and is one of the youngest there so I'm so proud that she got given the star of the week award. Only 1 child gets it per class and her teacher was very enthusiastic about telling me how she got up and collected it and curtseyed and said thank you very much to the head mistress during assembly I'll have to get her to learn a speech for the next one dedicating her award to her family and friends

tigermoth · 20/10/2003 23:02

that's lovely, jenie. Your dd has managed quite an achievement.
My son will be the youngest when he starts school in January, and so I think that his literacy and numeracy abilites are not that developed compared to some of his other classmates. I would be so proud of him if he managed to learn his letter sounds within a few months.

dd, who is almost 26 months and has had separation anxiety since about 5 months, has been left 4 times this week - twice at a new playgroup, once in a creche adjacent to my language class and once with a friend (she was also with her brother). She has been very brave, cried for 15 mins on Wednesday at playgroup but only briefly when I left her today but managed not to cry at all at friends' house yesterday. She really seems to be coping with her anxieties and trying to enjoy herself, and I'm so proud of her
