Thought it might be better to start a new proud thread as our kids are all progressing so wonderfully that the other thread has become large and slow to load, so here goes....

My gorgeous 10 month old DD crawled properly (and at an alarmingly high speed!) today. We now have to pull all cushions off the sofa and 'pad' the sharper edges whenever she goes on the floor! Am exceedingly proud of her, especially as many of my friends babies who are younger than DD have already showed signs of crawling/getting themselves about at around 6 months.

She also ate some daisies in the beer garden of our local country pub this afternoon, of this I am not quite so proud !!!

9 months and crawling wow, that's amazing. Yeah good luck with everything now!

EmmaTMG · 13/08/2003 07:31

We've got about 5 weeks before baby No.3 arrives and on a few occaisions have asked DS1 (nearly 4.5 yrs) whether he'd like a little sister or another brother. He started off saying that he'd like a sister and was quite adamant that there was a girl in there. We told him that we can't choose which he seemed quite happy with but still always said he wanted a girl.

Anyway I asked him again recently and he said to me 'Mummy I don't mind because whatever it is I'll love it anyway' Bless him, it still makes my heart melt when I think about it.

We found out yesterday that he's going have another brother.

leander · 13/08/2003 23:03

Ds 19mths yesterday pulled down his pants and said wee-wee and did a wee on the toilet,I know it was a fluke but I'm dead proud anyway.

ThomCat · 21/08/2003 10:23

I was so proud of Lottie last night that I got quite overcome!
She went to party yesterday - on her own, she's only 19months old! Her Godfather picked her up from my Mums at 12.10, she had to be woken up from her morning sleep (something I NEVER do)so that he could get her back in time for his daughters 3rd birthday party to start.
I picked her up at just after 6.30 and as I walked through the door there seemed to be a chain of people all telling me something wonderful about her. People were saying that she had spent the day kissing people and poking her little tounge out and wasn't she an amazing child, and wasn't I lucky and she'd been so good and so adorable and could they keep her and on and on and on came the compliments! Even some of the slightly older children came up and, one of them an 8 year old boy and said nice things about her! It was all a bit much, in the nicest way possible way. I was overcome! The mother of the little girls whose b.day it was, a friend of mine, said that Lottie 'stole the show'. I felt a bit bad about that and then she reassured me and said that no it was wonderful and I should be so proud of her. And I am, incredibly. I'm always proud of her but at the moment I'm literally bursting!

Rebi · 21/08/2003 10:28

Oh Thomcat, I'm all welled up!!! What fantastic compliments to get, you have every reason to be bursting. I'm sure you could eat her up....I could on your behalf!!!!!!!!!!

fio2 · 21/08/2003 10:30

An It Girl of the future! No, better than that I'm sure. She sounds a little star.

Angeliz · 21/08/2003 13:15

I always feel blessed (well MOST of the time but she is 2 and half....)with my dd. Yesterday she jammed her finger in the door of the wardrobe and said"oh that is wot you was worrying about!!" which makes me think that she is listening even when she pretends she isn't and i got her on video the other night and without any prompting (HONEST) she said "you are a lovely mammy"..AHHHHHHHHHH

Angeliz · 21/08/2003 13:18

other night in the bath though she sighed very loudly and said "mammy you getting on me wick!!"

Jemma7 · 21/08/2003 14:09

Ahh bless Angeliz.

Don't children say the must wonderful things.....

tigermoth · 21/08/2003 22:12

thomcat, what a lovely thing to be told about your daughter. And over and over again, too! Sounds like she's a party person.

eidsvold · 06/09/2003 15:43

Well we have had a week of first - dd had her first full week at nursery - five days ...3 1/2 days and two full days and SHE LOVES IT!! although it is great that she loves nursery and we have had no tears or that a little part of me would like to think she misses dh and I esp. me. The staff love her and we only hear good things about all the amazing things she has done. SHe is just on the go - wriggles/crawls around all day - checking out the other kids and everything that is in the room.

We have her first painting - minus the paint that was spread on her face, hair and clothes!!

She is doing really well eating 'proper' food rather than jars and the bits and pieces that we give her.

We went today to buy her her first proper pair of shoes - Clarks do a soft crawling shoe and she is just too hard on the cheap ones and we can't get them to fit. So now we have a lovely navy and pink pair ready for her to wear out. They also do a photo of her getting her fist shoes and a little book and bits - very impressed with clarks.

She also had her mmr jab late last week - no tears. No real reaction yet - a little temp but she has a cold so we are not sure if the temp is from the cold/reaction.

And me - I have had my first two days back at work full time. I have some wonderful classes and I have a class of year 9's who are just a bunch ofmonkeys - very lively, showing off. They do not realise that I used to teach there and have just had a year off. I am glad I survived so far - and hope it can only get better!!!!!

SO we have had a busy week.....

florenceuk · 11/09/2003 14:31

Hard to pick out milestones for DS (21 mths) at the moment as they seem incremental, not big steps - lots of words, but no real grammar yet. But one thing stuck out for me recently - having grasped the concept of another being "two" (eg if he has one biscuit, he asks for "two" to get another one), he recently asked for "tree"! (I told him he already had two, so he said "tree?" hopefully). Hey, he can count!

Hughsie · 11/09/2003 15:27

eidsvold - what a rollercoaster for you. You must be proud to see her settle so well - it takes the pressure off a little for your return to work if you know they are happy.

I'm due back in November and starting to feel a bit apprehensive.

Lethal · 03/10/2003 11:33

I was driving along in the car yesterday with ds (3) in the back seat, and all of a sudden he just said "I love you Mummy." Brought tears to my eyes...

Also this morning I thought my purse might have been lost/stolen while I was at the shops, and I was searching the house from top to bottom trying to find it. At one point I put my face in my hands because I couldn't bear the thought of having to replace all my credit cards & drivers licence, etc. Anyway ds walked up to me, patted my shoulder gently and said "Nevermind Mummy - it's ok." Little darling... (I did find my purse by the way).

Easy · 03/10/2003 16:57

Lethal, Mine did that, and helped us search the whole house for my keys. Me and my cleaner (and ds) spent four hrs searching, to no avail. That night I spotted them down a hole beside the stair bannister (long story).

When I said I'd found them in the hole ds said "Yes, I put them there yesterday"

GRRRRRR.

fio2 · 03/10/2003 16:58

awww so sweet

eidsvold · 04/10/2003 16:29

Ohh we have had some more dd is just coming on in leaps and bounds.... standing up at the dinner table at nursery - all by herself - usually someone has to start her off and..

She is waving bye bye or hello - just waving along with a big cheeky smile... she just looks sooo cute.

jac34 · 17/10/2003 12:01

We went to our first parents evening last night, our DS twins started reception in September.
Both are doing very well, and one is top of the class. The teacher commented on the fact that it is obvious the amount of parental input they have had.So the fact that DH and I have both been P/T and have shared child care responsibilities, for the preschool years have payed off !!!
Above all, I was most proud when she said, that they were very caring boys and had "taken a child under their wing", who had seach difficulties and had previously been playing alone.

jac34 · 17/10/2003 12:03

Sorry, that should be speach !!
