A lactose free milk that doesnt constipate?

DD2 is lactose intolerant And has severe silent reflux. She is now 4.5months and under a paediatritian. She was on enfamil Olac milk which stopped her horrendous cough and rash, pretty instantly, the cough had been a real sticky cough. However, as she has ranitadine and also gaviscon in her feeds, this completly blocked her up, to 1 to 2 poos a week, making her scream in pain and almost unable to pass it. So, paed said better to cough than to be consstipated, go back on to regular milk. Well we have, and instantly she has a retching horrid cough that now makes her sick, its horrid.

Is there a way we can do lactose free, keep up gaviscon, and Not constipate her?? x

hi I had to through all the milk changing as well, you could try neocate this a hypoalergenic formula, but in the end my little one settled amazingly well on sma wysoy hope this helps

It is most probably gaviscon that's causing the constipation. Can you try enfamil 0 lac or SMA LF but use Instant Carobel to thicken it instead of gaviscon?

Hi FFM, btw. Did notice it was you. Yes, we use carobel to make DS' formula thicker - it makes his poo a bit looser if anything. It's made by cow & gate.
