My three children...long post, sorry

Hello All,
Need a little vent and just wondering if anyone has shared my experience of parenting. I've got three DC...8, 5, 3. They are all bright, healthy and kind hearted (most of the time). However, I've always felt that my children are just a bit MORE difficult than other children. When I say that I mean that they seem to be MORE stubborn, MORE willful, MORE active, MORE excitable, MORE argumentative than other kids. At first I thought it was just me but after going to countless activities, playgroups, mothers groups etc. I feel like I can be objective about the fact that my children are just harder to parent than other kids. For example, when they were toddlers, in playgroups everyone elses children would sit and participate in the songs or stories in their mummies laps; mine will be trying to run away or climb things or trying to open the door to leave. When taking them to a siblings sport or afterschool activity, other siblings are content to sit with mummy and play with toys whilst mine are wandering or climbing chairs etc. They constantly seem to be squabbling, falling down, knocking things over, asking for things etc. whereas other people's children seem to be content just to tag along with mum and brothers or sisters. I don't think they MEAN to be naughty. They are not hyperactive as they are perfectly capable of participating in quiet, focused activities if they have the will to do so but I just feel that they are about as hyper (for lack of a better word) as you can get within the normal 'spectrum'. Anyone else have kids like mine or am I totally alone on this?

Mine are 6,3 & nearly 1. Older 2 exactly as you describe, youngest still a sweetie but no doubt she will follow her siblings example...sob!

'my children are just a bit MORE difficult than other children. When I say that I mean that they seem to be MORE stubborn, MORE willful, MORE active, MORE excitable, MORE argumentative than other kid' - clearly you have never met dd2 then

Seriously, even the school (dd1's) agree with me. They are trying to arrange her a place in nursery so I can get a break from her, in leui of starting there in Sept.

If it makes you feel any better my 3 children are MORE than other children too, but are MORE cautious, MORE shy, MORE liable never to join in with anything fun,MORE liable to give up with things , MORE grumpy etc etc

Its all relative, innit?

we should all hire a padded cell somewhere and lock ourselves in let them run free

Thanks for your perspective, Cyb. It's definitely all relative. I suppose I must just accept it as my cross to bear and try to 'focus on the positive'. Dilbertina; you're probably not going to want to hear this but for his first two years, I thought my youngest was going to be 'the easy one'. Then he turned three and now rivals his older brother and sister (combined) on the "handful" scale. I love them madly, of course, but sometimes I wonder what I was thinking having THREE.
