I imagine each child is different but I was wondering when everyones lo's stopped having a daytime nap? My dd is 2.4 and hasnt napped in the day for 2 weeks now so i think it may be over It makes the day seem very long. When I have tried to put her down she 1st keeps saying 'nonononono no no' and then just sits there and refuses to sleep. Is 2.4 an ok age to stop napping? She sleeps from 7pm through to 7.30ish

My dd stopped at 2 on the dot. Well I stopped her really as she was taking ages to drop off at night. As soon as I stopped she was much better at getting off to sleep. I think 2.4 is fine.

DS is 4 in June and still has one.

My dd3 is 2y5mo and doesn't have a set nap, i just let them drop where they are, but most days she doesn't nap and it's mianly on a monday after preschool that she has a proper nap.

My DS2 is 2 on Friday and hasn't had a nap for 4 days. I'm in denial - how will I cope with no more naps!

I'm very jealous of anyone who has a child still napping at 4!

DS is 2.3 and just dropping his.

If we do something exhausting in the morning (soft play, long walk etc) he'll still have a nap after lunch, usually not.

Get out in the morning, I find this helps a lot with the long day

dd is 13 months and usually only has about 35 minutes in the day, so you folks should count yourselves lucky No way she'll still be napping at all at 2...

NellyTheElephant · 01/03/2010 14:01

DD1 was about 2.6 when she stopped but DD2 dropped it around 23 months (although she would still happily have a nap she was then not going to sleep until about 9pm so I stopped the nap and normal 7pm bed time was restored (although for a few months she was pretty grumpy late afternoon and would probably still have a nap every 3 or 4 days or so)

Don;t lose hope. A friend of mine, whose son is now about 2.5, went through a phase of seeming not to want his nap, but she persisted, and he eventually started falling asleep again (he was in his cot anyway).

Hope this helps! I'm definitely going to follow her advice!

How long's a piece of string?

My dd stopped napping entirely at 13 months and is 2.9 now. She never napped much anyway as a baby.

Mine stopped at about the same age. It does make the day long.
