7 mth old - angel by day, devil by night!

Hi, I'm a newbie, hoping for some help!
My DD is 7.5 mths old, and has spent the last 6 weeks being a nightmare at night. She'd slept through for a few weeks from 6 mths (yes I know, we were lucky to have that bit!). Since then, we can be up up to 6 or 7 times a night. Last night, for example, was up from 11pm to 2am just trying to calm/comfort her. Stayed in the room, hand on tummy, but when I finally left, she'd start up again 3 mins later. Ended up with her in my bed, and DH in the spare room.

No idea what else to do - we've tried letting her cry, staying with her, co-sleeping, cuddling - all of which have diffferent levels of success or not. The definite winner is she'll always fall asleep in our arms (mine or DH's). Have we let her do that too often in the early days and made life hard now?

She slept through a couple of times in the last week, so I know she can do it!

In the day, she's a delight - no tears, loads of smiles and laughs, a good eater and napper (sleeps at 9am for an hour and 12.30pm/1pm for an hour or so, plus sometimes 15 mins around half 4/5).

Any advice on how it can become a regular occurance again?! Thanks!

p.s. - the teeth still haven't arrived...

I will be watching this thread with interest as I could have written it myself - we were up from 10:15 till 12:45 last night... Then 5:15-6.

You have my sympathies - all I can say is its a phase and will pass. DS2 was a rubbish sleeper (still is mostly) but at 1 its getting better - check its not teething (may well be at 7 months - both my boys teeth for weeks) waking her. If in doubt, try some teething powders/gels to see if it calms her. Shush pat helped us get DS2 to sleep once he was calm. And remember - this too will pass... eventually.

I'll be watching too as my 9 month old dd is the same!!! She wakes for a bottle at half 3 and then screams when u lay her back down. Was up between 3 and 5am with her then up at 7 to start the day. My ds was an angel sleeper nothing like her! X

Thanks all - comforting to hear we're not alone... So far this evening's gone ok - but we'll see what happens! Have tried amber necklace today (was given as a present so worth a try) to help teeth, and gels. Also tried heavier on the rice, as someone said more carbs might be needed in her diet. Will let you know!

Well, well - talk about a problem shared!... Slept right through last night - had a squeak around 5am but she settled herself quickly. We'd left the downstairs hall light on all night, so perhaps that helped. Or the calpol for the teeth, or the rice. Whatever it was, will try a rerun tonight! And since DH did the breakfast slot, am much more refreshed!
