Ds is 27months and am thinking about putting hime in bed as need his cot for the baby. Whats best way to move him out of cot, he can now climb out of it when not wearing his sleeping bag. Also should i skip the toddeler bed and move straight to a single? or just get him a little bed? What did you do?

DS2 is 23 months and is currently on a single mattress on the floor while he gets used to it and stops rolling out! I wouldn't bother with a toddler bed personally seems like a waste of money. Also we did have a cotbed originally but when ds1 used it as a bed found he rolled out more often as it is so much smaller than a single bed, hence going traight from cot to single bed with ds2

We moved DD at 24 months and it wasn't the big deal I was expecting at all. In fact it went really well.

We had both the cot and the bed in her room for 2 or 3 nights and I encouraged her to sleep in the bed but let her choose. I put the bed in her room in the morning so the first try could be with her nap rather than bedtime. IIRC I let her play on it for ages.

Some sort of bed guards are good to have, as much for making them feel secure as for stopping them falling out. Keeps the quilt in too.

Put a stair gate on his door, a while before you put the bed in if you can.

Get a quilt that's bigger than the size if the bed IYSWIM. Single quilt for toddler bed, double for a single bed. Or, sew extra fabric panels to the side seams of the quilt cover so you can tuck it in.

Oh, and we have a small bed, but, only because DSs room is tiny and it'll have to go in there later on. Would have just got a single otherwise.

both mine went into a full sized single bed. I have never used a stair gate on the door.
