temporary hearing aid in 3yr old?

my 3yr old appears to have hearing difficulties. Following a hearing test the doctor said that they might have to fit him with a temporary hearing aid.

He has fluid in one ear which they say will drain out by the time he is 6 or maybe well before then.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Was your child ok wearing the hearing aid? Did you notice an improvment in your child? How long did they have it on for?

I know all children are different but just wondered if anyone had any experience I could read about.

thanks

is it a grommet or an actual hearing aid? A grommet is a minuscule tube that is inserted in the eardrum under anestetic and allows the liquid behind the eardrum to escape.

no, it's a hearing aid, they said because it's only in one ear it doesn't justify a gromet.

No knowledge then. My DS had glue ear in both ears, but after three months it cleared up on its own, without having gromets or hearing aid. Can't help you.

My 3 year old son had grommets 1 year ago when he was 2 which stopped the ear infections but he still has some hearing loss so is now going for a hearing aid. I am hoping that this will help. Have you had any luck with your little one? Advice from you would be helpful if you have any

thanks
