No, definitely wouldn't think a size 12.5 is for an age 8-9....by that age I'd expect a foot to be about a size 3!! My DD2 isn't tall/huge and her feet are well within what I'd expect them to be. I'd say 12.5E for an age 5 child is absolutely fine.

oldenglishspangles · 18/02/2010 22:15

12.5 is a toward the top end of average for a 5.5 year old. DD2 is 5.5 and size 12.5 - e is acutally slighly narrower than average ( f is average) dd1 8 is a 1. She seems to be fairly average for her age group (year 3)

Just to balance things out a bit, Ds1 is 6.10 - his feet were measured yesterday as 10.5.

whispywhisp · 18/02/2010 22:48

Feet grow in spurts, like kids do in general. My two can go to Clarks and measure the same as months before and other times they've gone up two whole sizes....nothing you can do if they have got smaller or larger feet! So long as they've got well fitting shoes and feet that are squeezed into shoes too small or falling out of shoes too big does it matter what size they are?!!!!

glucose · 18/02/2010 22:52

no it doesn't matter at all, i just needed a comparison
