Hello

About to have a nervous break down, on antibiotics for mastitis and think its effecting babies belly. She cried from about 11pm to 4am last good few nights. I am , shattered, she feeds about 11pm, 3am and then 6am but between these feeds she wont settle and cries. She is not hungry because if i put her on she holds the boob in her mouth and then goes to sleep.

Think I willget her a dummy tonight to see if it helps but someone said do not give a bf baby a dummy so young? she has a good latch and knows how to feed well so it should not be a problem???

thanks

My ds (my 4th breastfed child) had a dummy from under a week old. He was a very sucky baby and I was losing the plot before we got the dummy. I've only just stopped feeding him and he's now 25 months. He never had a bottle (breastmilk or formula) and I know the dummy made him a much happier baby.

I've had mastitis and it's horrible. I'm sure the antibiotics will be upsetting your tummy as well as the baby's

If it were me I'd give the dummy a try. Hope you find something that works

My BF baby had a dummy from about a week old and it didn't cause any problems. He's nearly 6 months (still BFing) and we don't use them much now, just occasionally at bedtime or when in the car.

my DS had a dummy from 2 weeks, BFing was established and the colic was too much to bear. He's 15months and has it for sleeps

great - thank you!

just dug the old steriliser out and cleaning it with the sachets and then will sterilise them for tonight... fingers crossed it works!!!

my 2nd had a dummy from 5 weeks and i could not get it off her until she was 3! she had reflux as a baby and really needed it. i should have taken it away by 6 mths but the silence was too nice

i will be strong this time and just use it for emergency moments.

she cries alot between feeds not for food, dont remember my first doing that but maybe she has teh beginning of reflux like number two.

thanks again!
