Pillow for 17m old in a cot?

DD is 17m old and started walking late, only about 4 weeks ago, but she has caught on fast and is becoming very independent!
She has always been a fantastic sleeper (with usual exceptions for illness and teeth) but lately is taking a while to settle herself at night and doesn't seem as comfortable in her cot.
DH and I both feel she might need a pillow but not sure if that's the recommended thing.
I'd quite like to get her into her cotbed as I think she'd be happier in a duvet & pillow set up (she is currently in gro bag) but whilst she's walking well, she can't climb, so am not sure if she needs to be able to climb into bed herself to be old enough for a bed.

Am 1st timer so have no clue what I'm doing! I have always trusted my instincts which are saying to me- pillow and cot bed.
Any thoughts or advice most welcome.

yes, pillow fine in cot.

If you felt your dd was ready for cot bed, then go for it. My ds was 18 months and we had no probs.

defo go with instinct

We gave both our DSs pillows in their cots at about a year (just very flat ones), so that they started to get used to them.

Neither of them liked being covered much at that age so I used to fling over a sheet and cellular blanket when we went to bed. I think we gave them a cot duvet shortly after that and moved them into their beds between 18 and 19 months.

We kept on using the cot duvet for a while once they were in their beds and then bought proper duvets, but ones which had a 4.5 and 9 tog together so that they can be used for much longer and washed when the inevitable sicknesses etc happen.

I thought pillows were alright after 12 months - My DS has had a pillow and a quilt in a cotbed since 11 months but he is big and strong for his age - he is 14 months now,

Many thanks for the reassurance. We tried her with a pillow last night. She didn't seem fussed, so we're taking it slowly -see if she takes to it.
Your words gave me confidence.
