Is 3 too old to be biting other kids at nursery?

Could this be a potential issue? I would have thought a child should have grown out of biting by 2.5 or so?

Many thanks

I would think that maybe its not a huge issue but if the child has got what it wants from biting then it will continue fro longer

say if the parents haven't corrected/ignored but instead given in

I had to follow my dd around at playgroup when she was going through a biting stage to make sure that she didn't do it. Your nursery needs to be watching the children all the time; have a word with them.

I would have thought 3 is too old to be biting other children. My dd went through a phase but it was over before the age of 2. It would certainly cause a problem in her nursery at the moment as it is a state nursery school wih 4 rooms and about 60 children who can wander freely. It wouldn't seem feasible to survey the children at every minute of the day.

Are there any other issues with the child? Delayed speech can sometimes lead to frustration which can lead to physical aggression

check other children aren't biting first. I was called into nursery when ds bit someone once, I got him home and discovered 2 bites on his shoulders that had left marks through his clothes whihc nursery hadn't noticed him receiving.

good question- my 2.5 yr old DS did this yesterday at nursery....never done it before (or perhaps never seen before). i am very upset about it. he was in a shocker of a mood mind you, very tantrumy before I dropped him off. they were very nice about it, but I feel dreadful about it. dreading him going again. feel like i am doing something wrong....
