Cola contains caffeine (as do tea, coffee and some other soft drinks.) Caffeine is a stimulant which may, as you have observed, make your child hyperactive. As you have also observed, stopping giving your child caffeine, calms him down.

I think your next course of action is clear?

Children of this age are very active, that is normal. My dd1 started crawling at 6 months and has barely stopped moving ever since. My ds is also the same, another early mover and climber, adventurous and into everything. We keep them very active - plenty of long walks, swimming, dancing, cycling, and a strict bedtime so they don't get over tired.

I never ever give them cola, as it would make most children hyper in behaviour.
