Not crawling at 8.5 months

My dd is 8.5 months and nt moving yet. She rolls over (when she can be bothered) and is sitting unaided has been for couple of months. She weight bears well, loves standing but when put on her bum she is quite happy to sit there. On her front she wiggles bum and legs and trys to pull her arms but doesn't get the two in tango and gets peed off easily. A lot ofother babies her age are now on the move and still she sits. She is very happy, very smiley, says dada and nan nan and understands when I say 'comemama' for me to pick her up she throws her arms up for me to pick her up. I guess I am not used to this as my son was so quick with everything.....anyone else have baby this age not moving yet? X

Make the most of it whilst you can.

Perfectly normal.

DS wasn't crawling until late, about 13/14 months I think. He has only just started to let go of furniture now and is taking a few steps at 21 months. It's still early days so I wouldn't be too concerned.

Two or three of mine crawled at 11, 12 and 13 months. My superstar athlete crawled at 8 months!!! The three late ones walked at nearly 16 months, 19 months and 20 months!!! DC4 took his first steps at 13 months and so we're hoping for big things at the 2024 Olympics!!

Myy DD crawled at 11.5 months and walked at 14mo.

perfectly normal.

my first never crawled and went straight to walking at 13 months. My second started crawling at 11 months and has only just started walking at 18 months. Your's sounds fine to me.

DD2 is the same age, and the same, just rolling not crawling (and getting most annoyed that she can't). No worries, in their own time.

DD1 didn't even ever crawl, she just went straight to walking at about a year and worked out the crawling thing after that.

PureAsTheColdDrivenSnow · 10/02/2010 09:46

Sounds perfectly normal. DS was only commando style crawling at 8mo and IIRC he was the first in our post-natal group to do that. The other babies crawled at between 9mo and 12mo, one never crawled and went straight to walking at 10mo. All totally normal.

Pancakeflipper · 10/02/2010 09:49

don't worry about it. One of mine never crawled, just stood up and walked at 14 months. And my youngest didn't crawl until 12-13 months.

Enjoy the fact they are sat nice and still ....

DD didn't crawl till 11 months - all her peers in my mum and baby group were moving way before then. Then she stood up at a party at 13 mos and started walking (in front of entire group). Unless there are other concerns about her development then I really wouldn't worry. Once they can crawl they can really get themselves into mischief and you can never relax again!

Thank you ladies. Had dd weighed yesterday and spoke to the hv and she said more and more babies are not crawling now and to not worryat all. Thank you for your stories and reassurance. X

Neither my DS or DD crawled at all, both went straight to walking at 11/12 months.
