How to find a private speech therapist

ds2(3.11) have been on the waiting list for speech therapy since May 2009 and will probably not start treatment until after Easter. They are short staffed and will only be able to offer 2 weekly appointments at most.Obviously they are tight and there will be little flexibility of appointment times (understantably) so I will probably have to take time of work ( I work part time)

When he was assessed it was though he had a developmental delay of articulation and word formation and immature way of saying things but normal comprehension and vocabularly.

I am so fed up with but understand that the service is really stretched and there are many children with far greater speech and language issues than my ds.

So decided have to seek out a private SALT - how do you go about it and find the right person? Any advice from those who have done it?
I live in Renfrewshire in Scotland?

This is a good website here

popcorn - can you register with CAT so I can write to you, please?

I know of a very highly qualified lady in your area who has helped us enormously.

I've employed three private SALTs (through the link above) at various times. They've all been fine, the last one we employed (also the cheapest) was excellent.

Private SALT is pricey, but many are happy to provide an assessment and give you a report and exercises then meet up every so often to review.
