Thomas the tank engine obsession in 3.5 year old - is this normal?

My DS is 3.5 and for the past few months has become obsessed with Thomas The Tank Engine. His train tracks and trains are all he wants to play with. He also loves to watch Thomas dvds and read Thomas books and he can now recite chunks of the stories while playing with his trains. He talks about Thomas constantly and says he misses his train track when he goes to pre-school.

Is this normal behaviour for this age? I am trying not to worry too much as other than this obsession, he is a very typical little boy.

Thanks in advance for your advice

whippet my big two (5 and 4) both are obsessed with GoGo's! I dont get them at all, they just annoy me by finding their way to random corners of the house which are always hoovered up, and then i have to rake through the dust bag to get them back. Uugh!!

mumto2babes ys is obsessed with Thomas also. he is 2.6 ans since he got that take along stuff for his birthday last year, it has been out every single day-all day! we watch all the dvd's in the same order every single day, and is not a happy boy if i dont let him (i know im bringing it on myself )

es also went through Thomas obsession, so we still had a load of other tracks and trains.

we went to thomasland last october too, and when we parked up, i actually though ys was going to explode when he saw Cranky Crane from the car. The things we do to keep them happy...
