Did anyone see a news report on this and can do a link? A charity drew up a list of ten things every child should do before they are ten - eg make sandcastle and I wanted to see it.

The top things to do before reaching 10 are:

  • Roll on your side down a grassy bank
  • Make a mud pie
  • Make your own modelling dough
  • Collect frogspawn
  • Make perfume from flower petals
  • Grow cress on a windowsill
  • Make a papier mache mask
  • Build a sandcastle
  • Climb a tree
  • Make a den in the garden

Hulababy · 08/07/2005 17:19

Great list

The top things to do before reaching 10 are:

Think I did all but one as a child. I don't remember making my own modelling dough.

DD (3y 3m) has done 5 of them so far.

So the question is

How many did you do?

and how many have your children done?

Hulababy · 08/07/2005 17:20

Ah, mine was based on the top 10. Will look through rest now!

WigWamBam · 08/07/2005 17:20

Snow angels are when you lie down on your back in the snow, then move your arms up and down to make the shape of wings, when you get up there is the shape of an angel in the snow.

Hulababy · 08/07/2005 17:20

Aren't snow angels when you lay down in the snow and wave your arms up and down in the snow.

aloha · 08/07/2005 17:21

Wow, mumsnet never ceases to amaze!
Want to print this out for inspiration.

Aw, it is a list that makes you smile doesn't it?

Yes we should all print it out and stick it to our fridges

Hulababy · 08/07/2005 17:24

I have done, as a child: all but No. 2

DD (3y 3m) has so far done 14 of them.

rodeo1 · 08/07/2005 17:26

'Make perfume with flower petals'

My dd age 6 is always doing this and keeps bringing me putrid mixtures for me to smell and dab on my wrists. Bless

Maybe just bear in mind that it was sponsored by Persil, but it is a good list

okapi · 08/07/2005 17:30

mabe it should have been 10 things you should do to get your clothes dirty befor the age of 10

tamum · 08/07/2005 17:31

That did cross my mind!

rodeo1 · 08/07/2005 17:32

I've done 27 I think, haven't made a papier mache mask - only one made from a paper plate! Haven't camped in garden, or made an assault course

My dd's done an impressive 24!

My ds has done all the one's involving mud

from link
"Here is a list, compiled by a panel of experts and celebrities, of things children should do by the time they are ten. How many have your children tried? "

what people are these and are they on a catholic /jewish guiltathon?

i'm glad i have a garden for my kids to make a den in
i'm glad i live near the beach and can afford holidays for my kids to make sandcastles
i'm glad i have actually been able to afford to buy a tree ( for my burpday) that my kids help plant.

the fact that your kids "should have " done it by the time their ten - p*sses me off tosh!
