3m old rolling/sitting/'talking'

Hiya
My 3m old (last wk) is very alert. She is sitting unaided, rolls from tummy to front and constantly makes a wide variety of 'immitation' type sounds and has for the last month. She tried to sing last week, copying my mum.
She has a frightening degree of focus, non-stop for up to an hour, and it is like we can see her thinking.
Her legs are really strong too and she can 'bounce' her legs if we support her under the arms.
Does she sound like she might be advanced? What should I do?

Enjoy her

she sounds just like my DD who i think is fairly typical of 3 month olds

BoysAreLikeDogs · 22/01/2010 17:51

you could get together a treasure basket for exploration

Sounds like my 4mth old- constantly moving, alert, non-stop, vocal etc.

Just enjoy it! Play together, read books, play peek-a-boo, go for walks, go to the library, go to a toddler group, sing nursery rhymes etc. If she is sitting unaided without any support at all (i.e. you can leave her sitting on the floor for 5minutes plus), take her to the park and put her in a swing, my DS loves the park swing.

Wow - well I don't know girls, just boys, but she certainly sounds advanced! MY DS was early vocalising but certainly isn't that far along with rolling, possibly because he's a chubster?!, and he's 5 and a bit months. He was early with neck control and focussing but I think that's because he was two weeks later, so a lot bigger and 'older' than his contemporaries. Enjoy her - I suspect she'll certainly keep you on your toes!

Forgot to add: Boysarelikedogs, what would you put in a treasure basket? Any changes for a 5 month old as opposed to the OP's daughter?

BlackLetterDay · 22/01/2010 20:45

Blimey that is advanced especially wrt to the sitting. My ds is 12 weeks now and can roll front to back sometimes and is pretty chirpy but nowhere near sitting. Wouldn't a baby need decent arm/hand control to enjoy a treasure basket?

TulipsInTheRain · 22/01/2010 20:50

sounds like my three..... they slowed down in terms of achievment as they got older, although each of the three remained a bit ahead of their peers in one or two areas.

the older two are 3 and (almost)5 and are fairly average now, certainly dd is. ds1 is still a bit ahead of his age but nothing overly remarkable.

enjoy her now andbe proud of her achievments but don't count on her being G&T just yet
