My dd who has been speaking well for over a year has just started stuttering. Does anyone have any experience of this? Should I be worried? What can I do?

Both my children have gone through a stuttering phase at 2.5/3 years. I think when they start speaking more fluently their mouth tends to run away with itself, it's as if their brain is going quicker than their mouth can. I don't think it's anything to worry about. (And neither of mine stutters anymore, it probably only lasted a couple of months.)

My experience with ds (now 4.6) was the same as Gubbins'. Just before his speech really took off he had a stuttering phase.

Thanks so much. Was starting to get concerned.
