My 3.9 year old ds is usually a happy, loving, and calm (for his age) child so I was completely horrified when I went to pick him up from pre-school yesterday to be told that he had pushed over another child with such force that his teacher/support worker had to advise it's parents to take their dd/s to the hospital!!

I have to now face these parents in the playground today and i do want to apologise to them for my son's behaviour. Can anyone give me any advice on the best way to approach them?

this is difficult as all children do this at some point and its not your fault all you can do is say im so sorry to hear what my ds did yesterday this behaviour has shocked me as never bee n like this before and i have told him off about pushing

thats all you can do as a parent who's child has pushed and been pushed all you want to hear is the parent acknowledges and has done or tried to do something about it but you wasn't there so don't be too hard on yourself just make sure you have told your ds about no pushing and what will happen if he does

my ds would lose tv time if i get told he has done something to another child his old enough to understand and should have a consequence to bad behaviour

oh flipping....its awful to be the parent of a child who has been nasty...you feel so much like it reflects on your parenting eh? my ds used to be a biter....its horrible.

i think if you approached me with a very simple " i'm so sorry about my ds yesterday...i am really upset by it, he has been punished and talked to most severly, i hope your little dd is ok" i would be really glad that you had acknowledged it and would think you a most lovely lady.

good luck.

He lost his tv time yesterday and i told him off but not entirely sure it sank in but we will see, The next hurdle is to identify the parents in question as i wasn't told which child it was!!!

Thanks for the luck i think i'm going to need it. (i am a huge woose)
