He's not sucking it exactly, he just puts the side of his thumb in between his front teeth, and bites it.
It is quite red and has a scab on it but he still does it...I am gently taking hand away from mouth and distracting, but I wonder if he does it as a nervous thing...and if there's another way to stop it as it looks really sore.
