Why does a HV need to come to my house to see if DD can talk, build a tower with blocks and recognise colours??

Please can someone explain? I think it is a waste of time and resources.

I haven't seen my HV for at least 18 months, and lovely as she is, I really can't see the point.

Because sadly not all parents are 'aware' as to whether their child is 'behind' - having them 'assess' each child as 'standard' allows those who 'do' have problems (be is social, emotional, development etc etc) to be 'flagged' and where nessecary followed up - ie speach therapy.

GB u are perfectly entitled to tell your health visitor that u dont want a developmental check - its not compulsory-
