2 year old DD (only child) has a chest infection, I have a chest infection. DH is trying to finish some essay for his BL!!DY course, I've taken her out to build snowmen, go for walks in the snow for the last 3 days but she gets SO COLD SO QUICKLY even when wrapped up like the Michelin Man. She is tired and doesn't want to play in the house and whinges and cries for the TV. I have done painting, made cards, read stories, played games, done dancing, banged things but I AM TIRED. I want to watch TV all day. Or go to bed. Or both. Do I just give in? All suggestions very much appreciated.

give in for a couple of hours and chill out . Don't beat yourself up about it..

TidyBush · 10/01/2010 13:50

Give in -one day won't hurt. Nothing wrong with a duvet day every know and then.

TidyBush · 10/01/2010 13:51

now and then

Give in it sounds like both you and her need a rest. Nothing wrong with that even for a few days. Nobody is marking you out of ten on how you get through difficult situations.

Hope you both feel better soon.

You and DD are both ill. A few hours cuddling up watching TV will do you BOTH a lot of good.

We've done painting; paper bag glove puppets; pretend picnics; dolls house; "shopping"; sticklebricks, etc. We're now having a marathon Dora/Peppa session. And I'm MN-ing. Bliss!

We are going to do Christmas/birthday thank yous if it kills me today.

Put it on for one day - maybe make it a DVD rather than perpetually on-going children's TV. You are poorly, she is poorly, you aren't breaking the good habits in one day. This weather is (I tentatively think) on its way out and this time next week it will be a different story. Be kind to yourself and get well soon.

brockleybelle · 10/01/2010 14:22

With the others on this. Put on TV/DVD, snuggle together under a duvet, cuddle, and enjoy!

wollysocks · 10/01/2010 14:24

hope you get better soon. Have you got medication to take.

I would say your DH needs to split his time. At least a full, proper HOUR with your DD to take pressure off you. Noone can write 24 hours a day after all.

Rest together if he refuses. I have 2 and half yr old. seems to like it and obliges if I ask her to fetch and carry, so try this as a "game", even washing you, brushing your hair etc. Bath together. hope this helps.

bless you all; thanks for letting me off my hook. We sat and watched tv. She fell asleep for a bit. it was snuggly. Now my Best friend is coming round to our chaotic sty to cheer us all up and DH has moved away from the computer!
one day at a time and all that....
