Blinking in 2.5 year old

DS2 who is 2.5 has just started doing really pronounced blinking in the last 2 or 3 days. There doesn't seem to be any particular trigger, but he is incredibly sensitive and has always cried an awful lot. Do I need to worry about it, or take him to the doctor? Has anybody else experienced this?

My DD1 nearly 3 also started to do this over xmas, took her to the opticians and he seemed to think that her eyes were drying out due to the heating being on all the time, said to bath in cooled boiled water when it happens.

That';s interesting, I was thinking it might be a tic, but I might get his eyes checked out just to be on the safe side.
