Ds1 is 3.9 now and for a while he has been struggling with his speech. We have seen a speech therapist and he does activities to help him along both at home and at nursery and he i getting allot better. Although what he has been given is not really very good and is sais it is for children with dyspraxia and the salt never mentioned any concerns with that???
I feel he has got perticularly better over the xmas holidays and now evryone can understand what he sais now with the exception of he can't put together 'ch' or 'tr' it's just that when he talks quickly or in whole long paragraphs of speech he becomes less understandable.
Everyone we know gets this it's just taking him longer then others but at the school gates i always feel like the other parents (who we are friendly with btw) look at us like "why the hell can't he talk clearer???" i may just be over-sensitive but one of the mums i am on gr8 chatting terms with when i told her about ds seeing the speech therapist said "let's hope it's nothing too serious or you'll be kicking yourself". Well yes and no but ds sees lots of people always has done, I have always enouraged speech from the very begining and we have always talked loads ect but i now feel as though people feel it would be my 'fault' he is delayed?
I don't really know what replies i expect just needed to let off steam about it it's been bugging me scince before the xmas hols.
