Visited a Cranial Osteopath but is now getting worse?!

I took my 5 week old DD to a cranial osteopath yesterday as she has been suffering from Colic and Reflux and spends much of the day screaming. The thing is that last night and this morning she has been worse, almost completely inconsolable .

I just wondered if anyone has found through their own experience that this can happen? Or that it is one of those things which can get worse before it gets better?

We have our second session on Friday and I am still really keen and hopeful that it will help her, but DH has always been sceptical and now feels vindicated in his view that it is just a huge waste of time and money.

After the first visit they can feel awful, it should settle down. Mention it on Friday.

They should have warned you it can get worse before it gets better - mention it at your next session and hopefully will improve soon. In the meantime, keep your baby close to you and lots of skin to skin to calm them down.

Agreed, always worse for a couple of dys before better. Good luck!

if it is reflux not sure how much they can do anyway, we went for colic etc turned out to be silent reflux she was v honest and said limited success with reflux. my LO def got worse after second session. i rang her after and she made me go back and did treatment for free, ring if you are concerned. good luck i know how tough it is with reflux baby.

Have taken all of mine at various points. Dd was v young (maybe 10 weeks?) and def was worse after - hellish w/end between treatments. But after two minutes of second went all happy and haven't had to take her back since. Ds1 was about 18 months and took 3 or 4 treatments to have an effect. Ds2 was about 8 months and it took 2 or 3 (think resolved itself between treatments). So guess all children different.
Give your CO a call. Am sure she'd be happy to talk.

Diff issues btw - youngest was colic.

if it is reflux, feed her sitting up and keep her upright for 15 mins after a feed. Also infant gaviscon may be needed. Is she def worse straight after a feed?

Wilsybear · 06/01/2010 22:02

yes - it is generally worse after a feed. Not all feeds, but sometimes I dread it as you know that feeding her (especially in the evening) is just going to kick things off.

Having said she hasn't been so bad today and that she is fast asleep at the moment. Normally at this time we are usually in the middle of a 3-4 hour screaming fit. Hope I am not speaking too soon, but dare I say we might have had a breakthrough...

ooooh fingers crossed! how is she today?

Wilsybear · 07/01/2010 17:21

not so good today but she did stay reasonably quiet last night. Will wait and see how she is tonight.
