Hi I would appreciate some advice. My dd is 18 months old and dosent really have many words yet so its difficult to understand what she wants sometimes.

When she is frusrated, ie when she cant get shapes into a shape sorter or she is hungry and waiting for food she will smack herself on her head, quite hard sometimes, its awful to watch her hurting herself and I dont know how to handle it, at the moment I tend to say no dont do that and give her a cuddle or try to distract her but im worried im paying it to much attention.

I just dont know where she has got this from I have never smacked her, not sure how to handle this.

just distract. Tis normal - a version on headbanging.

She will grow out of it as her language develops.
