6 month-old refused to sit

What the subject title says, really. DD is 6 months old and more or less refuses to bend in the middle. She loves to 'stand' and bounce with someone holding on to her, has been rolling over for weeks and has just started to support her weight on her hands and knees. But she cries when we try to sit her down (e.g. for stories).

Please send me lots of replies about how your baby was exactly like that and then suddenly sat beautifully at the age of six months and one week !

One of mine couldn't sit unaided until 11 months so don't panick!

ds3 is 6 months plus a couple of weeks, not stting yet! other two where 7 mnonths, don't panic just give her lots aof opportunity to 'practise'

my dd2 didnt bother to sit up till she was 8.5 months old and now shes 16months she had been learning to walk but is still wobbly.

^months is the youngest age for siting unaided. A lot of babies don't sit until they are 8 or 9 months old.

Thanks for the reassurance, everyone! (And apologies for the typo - title should obviously have been 'REFUSES to sit').
