Does your lo....sleep in big bed, use a high chair, have bottles or dummies, use a grobag and use a pushchair??

I know there is no average as far as kids are concerned, but I am interested as my LO seems so different to his cousin - and I was wondering what was more common.

ds1 at 2.5

slept in a big bed
sat in a booster chair at the table
had a dummy, but not a bottle
never had a grobag ever
used a pushchair

ds2 who is 2yrs and 2months

sleeps in big bed
sits on a normal chair
has a bottle and a dummy
never used a grobag
still uses a pushchair (mainly cos he runs off if i let him walk lol)

littleboyblue · 29/12/2009 23:01

My ds1 is 2.4. He sleeps in big bed, no highchair, no bottles, still has dummy, no growbag (he doesn't seem to like being too covered up). He still uses pushchair but I am trying to get him out of it.

pigletmania · 29/12/2009 23:02

My 2.5 old, slept in a big bed, had both dummy and bottle and used a pushchair, sat in booster seat on chair/if out on normal chair, and not potty trained and still is not at now 2.9 year old. I have only a month ago got rid of the dummy but not bottle.

MegBusset · 29/12/2009 23:02

DS is a little older (2.10) but at 2.5 he:

had just gone into big bed
sat in a high chair (still does!)
never had a bottle, no dummy since 9mo
gave up grobag when he went into bed
was still in pushchair (has just graduated to buggy board)

Nevergoogle · 29/12/2009 23:02

DS2 now,
Sleeps in a toddler bed with bed guard
No grobag, never did.
No highchair but will mostly sit in triptrap chair, other times thinks he's too grown up for that.
Uses bottles
No dummy, but never did.
Travels by pushchair or trike with handle.

Looking back at DS1
Sleeping in single bed with bed guard
No grobags
No highchair. Sat at little chair and table.
Using bottles
Using dummy
Walking fairly long distances.

Clare123 · 29/12/2009 23:03

Thanks. Does your LO ever wear babygros?

JACKIEwrappingPAPER · 29/12/2009 23:04

dd is 2.11, she sleeps in a single bed with a duvet, sits on a normal dining chair, sucks her thumb (no dummy), uses pushchair when we're at the shopping centre but not for short walks (for my convenience more than hers!)

JACKIEwrappingPAPER · 29/12/2009 23:05

dd wears pyjamas, stopped babygros about age 2.

littleboyblue · 29/12/2009 23:05

I don't really like babygro's so ds1 hasn't worn one since he was about 6 months. Same with ds2

Clare123 · 29/12/2009 23:08

Thanks - I guess it's different parent styles, but it comes more apparent when there are such differences within families. My LO does not wear babygros, have dummies, bottles, sleeps in a bed (with guard), has booster seat (but if out in a normal chair) and not use a grobag.

HeadFairy · 29/12/2009 23:08

ds is 2.3...

He sleeps in a cot
He has a bottle and a dummy (but only at night for both)
has a grobag
hasn't worn babygros since he was a year old, perhaps a bit less
sits in his triptrap at home but is happy in any old chair so long as he can reach the table!
Rarely uses the pushchair, only when I need to keep a reign on him in a shop or something.

MegBusset · 29/12/2009 23:08

DS1 stopped wearing babygros around 2 as I couldn't find any big enough. Wears vest under top in the daytime, PJs at night.

Clare123 · 29/12/2009 23:09

Forgot to say he does use a pushchair because he is lazy and/or runs off!

LastOfTheMulledWine · 29/12/2009 23:10

DD is 2.7 but at 2.5 was in a normal bed with a duvet.

Never had a bottle or dummy.

Highchair we gave up at about 13 months.

Not mad keen on the pushchair since about 20 months or so but have an emergency one in the boot if she's ill/tired/we're going a long way.

She wears sleepsuits in bed. Cotton when warm but fleecy atm as it's cold and we live in an old cottage with poor heating and single glazing.

geordieminx · 29/12/2009 23:10

Ds was 2 in May.

He still sleeps in a cot - he has never tried to climb out (climbs in, and onto every other piece of furniture in house ), but since he is quite happy in there, that is where he stays.

He uses a highchair when we are out at a restuarant (to stop him escaping), but at home we have a small table and chairs from ikea, so he eats here, and usually runs away

Still occasionally has a bottle of milk , but getting rarer now.

Never had dummy.

Doesnt go in gro bag anymore - blankets. Wish he did as he is a gymnast in bed and is usually found upside down with no covers (or clothes) on.

Not used a pushchair for over a year unless we go into town on a busy saturday. He refuses point blank to go in it, so walks (or gets carried)

HTH

Clare123 · 29/12/2009 23:10

I meant to say does not have dummies or bottles (just re-read my above post!)

It's not just parenting styles, it's individual children's personalities, comfort and confidence too.

It doesn't matter in the long run when children do or don't give up various things/behaviours.

littleboyblue · 29/12/2009 23:17

I totally agree about it also being about cildren's personality. There are things that I do so differently with ds2 because he is the complete opposite to ds1. Stuff like eating, naps, etc. He also needs alot more attention than ds1 did at the same age and seems far more attached

Wanderinginawinterwonderland · 29/12/2009 23:17

Dd has slept in a bed since 17 months,
sits on a normal chair at the table,
uses a dummy for sleeping at night,
still uses a pushchair, as we walk miles and it would take forever for me to get anywhere,
doesn't use grobag, uses a normal quilt.

thisisyesterday · 29/12/2009 23:23

mine still wears babygros- what on earth does it matter if they wear 2 part pyjamas and one part???

i find they fit over his cloth nappy better

snickersnack · 29/12/2009 23:26

Ds went into a big bed at 2, and has a duvet and wears pyjamas. Gave up bottles at 18 months. Hasn't used a high chair for some time and never had a dummy. Rarely goes in the pushchair now, usually goes on his scooter. Not potty trained though.

MegBusset · 29/12/2009 23:28

Yes I'm not sure what any of that has to do with a 'parenting style' -- just happens when it happens...

still uses pushchair now sometimes at 3.5
still has a bottle at bedtime at 3.5

dd2 at 19mths

in cot and will be untill over 2
uses a booster seat at meals
still has dummy
still uses pushchair
still has bottle at nighttime
had duvet in cot- she started taking her grobag off herself about 3 months ago.

ellokitty · 29/12/2009 23:34

Neither of my DDs used most of the items on your list, past the age of 2, with the exception of the pushchair. Most were gone well before the age of 2, although the dummies went at about 2 1/2.
