18mnth old nightmare to settle when she wakes at night

DD2 is 18mnths old. She sleeps in a cot in the same room as DD1 (3yrs, has a junior bed). They sleep 7-7 most nights and go down to bed fine most nights.

BUT ~ every 3rd night she wakes and is a nightmare to settle down. She's fine as long as she's being held/ cuddled/ or is in bed with DH and I, but howls as soon as we take her to her cot. She kicks, cries "no, no, no; Mummy, mummy, mummy, daddy, daddy...etc" it can go on for ages.

no med probs, both DDs get on well and DD1 sleeps like a log. DD2 is a wriggler and I suspect she wakes by wriggling into the corner of her cot.

I think she's just wilful and simply wants to have the attention of DH and I. She's way too wriggly for me to sleep, when she's in our bed

Am I missing something? Don't know if I just need reassurance whilst dealing with this.

Might she sleep better in a bed? A friend of mine had a child who thrashed about a lot at night and slept much better in a proper bed. She was about 18 mtgs when they put her in a bed.
