What age did your dc go into a proper bed?

Just wondering, because my dd is 16 months and always banging her head on the cot bars, so we are thinking about changing to a child bed with guards.

Your experiences please?

dd was 14 months when she went into her cotbed and she is now 20months and got her big bed coming this week. i found when i did move her from cot to bed she did get out and come to stairgate shouting and crying but after a few time of going upstairs and putting her in her bed and telling her its sleep time she seemed to go down ok! now she goes to bed and not get out of bed there are a few nights she does get out but we leave her then go up bout 15mins later and put her in bed! hope this helps, just stay patient and dont give into dc!

My Ds never slept in a cot - HATED it. We sold it brand new!!

He slept in our bed then straight into his bed at about 15months ish with no problems at all. Loves it. We have the ikea extendable bed which is low. No guard on it. he never gets out of bed! He is almost 2.4 now.
