Weird question I know but!
We have a 3yr old son and obviously he refers to his bits as his willy but we now have a baby daughter too.
What is the concensus as to acceptable words for girl's bits???

It's a "twinkle" in our house

nailpolish · 28/06/2005 16:33

flower here

lilaclotus · 28/06/2005 16:55

i think i might start calling them 'twinkle' now. it seems most popular and it's quite cute.

trinityrocks · 28/06/2005 18:15

the only thing I could conjour up quickly on the spur of the moment when dd was three and she starting running round shouting "fanny" was "foo foo" which was fine until she came home from nursery at about 4 singing a nursery song about a little bunny called yes you guessed it "foo foo"

kbaby · 28/06/2005 21:24

I used to call mine a minnie.
Now were unsure what to call it , DH says Foof which I dont like.
Maybe I wont call it anything and wait until DD comes up with something to call it

Rarrie · 28/06/2005 21:31

When I was growing up, it was called a 'mary jane'. Gawd knows why. We just call them bits!

Lonelymum · 28/06/2005 21:34

Am I the only person who doesn't have the need to call it anything at all? Although, if I did, it would be front bottom (sorry WWB, but that is what my mother called it too and I find it a pretty useful, self-explanatory phrase! - and not at all twee!)

Lonelymum · 28/06/2005 21:36

In fact, without offending anyone here, I think "front bottom" is the least twee of all the words.

moondog · 28/06/2005 21:38

I'm surprised at you lm. Didn't think you were one for avoiding the nitty gritty (lol!)
I bit the bullet and say 'vagina' even though I hate the word. Can't bear the blushing and euphemisms that I dealt with as achild (not from parents I hasten to add.)

Lol at 'flower' np!!!! Sounds like something out of a titillating novel. Would that be the flower of Scotland then???

Tabs · 28/06/2005 21:39

When I was little it was called a 'tinkle', and that isn't a mistype for 'twinkle' like others have said!

It's not an arse, so why why why 'front bottom'?????

Gaaaahhhhh!!!!

nailpolish · 28/06/2005 21:41

posh ladies call it an 'undercarriage' PMSL every time one says to me "will you wash my undercarriage please nurse?"

moondog · 28/06/2005 21:49

OMG np! Would rather die than have someone wash my undercarriage!!! (Although maybe this is the case with some of your patients, in which case, apologiesfor my poor taste. )

rummum · 28/06/2005 22:12

We always called the girls bits a mini... don't know why really.. perhaps because it rhymed with willy???

nailpolish · 28/06/2005 22:15

moondog, dont say that, its a shame, the poor souls, i dont really laugh, feel bad now.

saying that, itll be you one day! (lets sit together in the nursing home when we are old md and gossip)

ThePrisoner · 29/06/2005 00:22

We say "bits" - I've got daughters, and dh still doesn't understand why we laugh when he says, prior to going out, "can you put all your bits in the car" etc.

Whatever name u choose, make sure it is one that a teacher will understand, but isn't something that you'll mind hearing in the middle of Sainsburys ... have a friend whose daughter shouted out "mummy, my vagina's sore!!" ...

Lonelymum · 29/06/2005 19:54

I realise this thread is now dead, but I got cut off by a thunderstorm last night (power cut) just as I was typing a reply to Moondog. I was just saying that I consider my bottom to be the bit of me I sit on and I definitely sit on my fanny as much, if not more than my arse (so delicately phrased, Moondog!) so therefore, have no problem with front bottom.

PSML at ThePrisoner putting her bits in the car!

ThePrisoner · 29/06/2005 23:18

And then the boys can be called "bobs" ... so you can have a full set ... "bits and bobs" (oh dear, this just gets worse, doesn't it ...)

likklemum · 29/06/2005 23:51

When i was growing up it was called a minimoo?????????!!!!!!!!!!! why? Who knows? dp was taught to call his a cock-a-lock!

We have decided to use the west indian word poum-poum as now, thanks to ali-g, everyone knows punani. having said that, might use mini aswell. We were decided on willy for a boy, but at the moment we keep calling it a pee-pee gun as in 'pass me the nappy quick! his pee-pee gun is staring me straight in the eye!. must get out of that habit soon (he is only 11 weeks)!
Funny how dp and i haven't discussed other, more immediate things, such as when we will wean etc, but pass the time talking about names for our bits!!

kgc · 29/06/2005 23:57

really freaky likklemum as I call my daughters bits their minimoo and have done since my first daughter was born, now have three girls and my eldest even refers to it as a minimoo now also!!!

likklemum · 30/06/2005 00:24

Where on earth do these bizarre names come from? is it coz we want them to call their bits names that make them innocent?
tee hee kgc! that is the first time i have ever known anyone to call it by the same name. Just asked my mum why she chose it and she says coz it wouldnt be too bad for me to have mentioned it on the bus!
I think penis and especially vagina are too formal and technical for little people. Do you get them to say urine and stools?!!

kgc · 30/06/2005 00:38

hey there likklemum - you know I was so surprised when I read your post and you had that name used for it, because it was something that I totally made up on the spur of the moment with my first child and I just said it and thought well I will keep using it and like your mum I had no idea what to call it without drawing attention so came up with minimoo!!!!! Penis and vagina are too formal for such little people.

Hee, hee use wee wee and poo poo!!!!

jayzmummy · 30/06/2005 00:49

Boys have "doodah's"
Girls have "chumfies"....well they do in this house, though where the words came from is beyond me.

kgc · 30/06/2005 00:56

LOL jayzmummy - where do we get these names from honestly but its great that we can laugh about tho.
