Crawling?

JennyPennyNAPPYWEB · 19/12/2009 19:16

DD1 was crawling at 4 months. DD2 is nearly 8 months now and still doesn't crawl. Should I be worried? What is the age they should definatly be crawling by?

Maybe she is just lazy! Lol.

Some don't crawl at all.

My DD didn't crawl til 11.5 months, walked at 14mo but now at 16mo can do everything physical her little friend who crawled at 5mo can do.

My 9 and a bit month old doesn't crawl yet so Ill watch this thread with interest!4 months sounds really early to me, but I cant remember when these things should occur!

yomellamoHelly · 19/12/2009 19:32

My 8 month old isn't crawling yet. She does get plenty of tummy time so will get there in her own time. You could ask HV at 8 month check. I would have thought around a year would be worth asking for a development paed referral.

DD crawled at 7 or 8 months, which seemed early to me. DS not until 10-11 months, and then reluctantly. Me never (bum shuffler).

Ds1 crawled at 4 months and ds2 is 9 months and not crawling. He has a physio appointment next week so i will see what she says. He was already 'in the system' for other things so ended up being referred for physio.

four months in all my career in childcare, not to mention my four years as a mother I have never heard of a baby crawling at 4 months.
I am very impressed!

I can't remember when DS1 crawled. I think it was quite late and he didn't do it for long because he was walking by 11 months.
DS2 has just learnt to crawl and he is 8 months almost 9 months. I wouldn't worry, some don't crawl at all, just get up and walk

JennyPennyNAPPYWEB · 19/12/2009 21:03

I know 4 months is very early, so I knew DD2 probably wouldn't match that but just didn't think it would be quite this long.

[it was actually more like 4.5months I think] She was also pulling herself up on furniture by 6 months and by 8 months she was walking holding one finger. So very different to DD2 who just sits there! lol.

Thanks for the replies, at least I know its normal. I wasn't worried, just wanted to check that didn't need to be iyswim?

dgs was 9 months
My friend's dd crawled at 4 months-I saw this and know it to be true.My own ds was a week older than her and didnt crawl till 7 months and dd was 9 months.

tvfriend · 21/12/2009 22:19

DD crawled one week after her first birthday and DS crawled at 6 months. Don't think there is a 'right' age really

Reallytired · 21/12/2009 22:35

I was told by son's child physio. If they can sit by two they will walk by four.

Chill out and enjoy your children.

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 21/12/2009 22:37

both my DDs were lasy, neither sat before 10 months, dd1 never crawled at all and got everywhere on her bum, DD2 was about 14months. DD1 didnt walk till after her 2nd bday and dd2 was about 22months. Please dont panic, enjoy them

jollyma · 22/12/2009 22:15

DS2 9 1/2 months and quite happy sitting on the rug getting fat! I'm very glad he's not my first or I'd be very worried by now. Currently making the most of not having to run around after him on my stone kitchen floor .

MyCatHasARedderNoseThanRudolph · 22/12/2009 22:19

My DD commando crawled (elbows and knees) at 4 1/2 mths, and crawled properly at 5 mths (she also climbed up the back of the sofa at 3 mths and the stairs at 6mths, walked pushing a trolley at 7mths). DS commando crawled at 7 1/2 mths, crawled properly at 9mths but not climbing anything yet (although did try to pull over the Christmas tree today).

All children (like adults) are very different. Don't worry.

SueSchons · 22/12/2009 23:10

Eldest son didn't crawl until 12 months and was 21 months before he walked

Youngest has just started crawling at 8 months
