Does my daughter still need a bed rail?

Hi, my daughter will be 5 in march, she is a year behind developmentaly though.
She hasn't had a bed rail for about 6 months now, but recently, she's been falling out of bed. I'm not sure wether to put the bed rail back up? We are trying to encourage her to be more independant, and she sometimes wakes up and goes to the toilet in the night. I don't want her to try to climb over the bed rail.
I could also try putting cusions on the floor?
What do you think would be best?

What about putting the bedrail right up at the head of the bed? That way she would be less likely to roll out, yet be able to sit up and get out near the middle of the bed.

As for age-appropriate, my NT dd was still using a bedguard at 5yo. In fact, we put it back for a while at her request. Tho she was still in night nappies at the time (still is - but then they're ready when they're ready).

My 6 year old occasionally falls out of bed but the 4 year old has the only remaining bed guard between him and the radiator so she just has to try not to fall out.
