DS won't poo in his potty

I started potty training DS (2.5) about 2 months ago and he got it pretty quickly with wee but refuses to poo in the potty. We've had success with a couple but only after serious encouragement and chocolate button rewards. If I catch him doing one (very obvious straining whilst grabbing sofa/table/shelf), I'll ask if he's doing or needs a poo, but he just says no and will get upset if I try and encourage him onto the potty.

How can I get the poo out of the pants and into the potty??

dd1 now nearly 7 was like this for at least 6 months. I was tired of getting poo out of her pants. After much time - maybe more tan 6 months - and after being told no more Cbeebies and no more treats - she got it. I learned at the time that this is quite norla behaviour for kids and some are scared of feeling poo falling away into a potty. So maybe jsut give him more time and more carrots and sticks - he'll get there. My dd2 on the other hand had not probs jhere.

ds1 was the same, it took us a while to get to the bottom of it, but in the end we found out that pooing on the potty made him sad, because he didn't like flushing the poo away!
it took lots of encouragement and patience, but we got there in the end.
we used to sit and read 'whose in the loo' over and over again while he was on the potty.
even know he sometimes doesn't flush after he's been for a poo, it's very annoying!

My dd bypassed the potty entirely. She hated all the different ones I got her and just used the toilet with a special seat on it to stop her falling down the hole.

I feel your pain - DS is doing brilliantly with wees (will go on his "Thomas toilet" - toddler insert seat as described above - or potty) but will not poo in the potty or loo. He hides up corners and then appears with a suspicious aroma and a bulge in his trousers. My nephew was the same and it just took time.

We had the same with dd1.

Got majorly fed up and told her the knickers she was very happy with would be given away to her friend. She soon stopped.

Ha ha CanI. We read Who's is the Loo about 20 times a day too. Potty or toilet, doesn't matter to him at the moment. It either comes out in his pants or stays there. I'm trying not to make too big a deal of it because, as a lot of you say, I think it will take time and he'll just get it one day. Hopefully soon!
