dd- birth 51cm. no idea what she is now

QueenOfQuotes · 25/06/2005 00:24

have to say it's very scary having both your DS's being over half your height before they're even 1 1/2yrs old - I'm 152cm

Wow, QoQ, DD was ~86cm at 2.5yo.

Can't give any firm numbers, but judging from clothes sizes my older 2 were average length babies at birth-3 months old, have been runts since (eg., DD is 3y+8m old & will still be wearing size 2-3yo clothes for another 6 months, I suppose).

DS2 was quite long at birth (even MWs said so), but seems to be about average length now (1yo)... which still makes him seem ruddy enormous compared to his runt siblings.

jessicasmummy · 25/06/2005 07:11

Jess was 47cm born and at her 9month check (which took place at 10 months!) she was 72cm

QueenOfQuotes · 25/06/2005 10:41

I know Zebra - it was quite a shock to get him measure a couple of months back and discovered that he was so tall......it was a nightmare carrying both of them - being 'long' at birth babies - I'm only a runt myself and from 30 weeks pg with both pg's had one of their legs permanently jammed until my right ribs!

Centile wise DS1 (stangely the BF one!) stuck to his centile quite rigidly - around the 60th,

But DS2 started off on the 75th and shot up to the 98th..........funnily enough people say that neither of my boys take after me - and their just like their daddy - well they don't say - LOL

strugstu · 27/06/2005 21:56

my ds was 53 cms at birth and is now 6ft

strugstu · 27/06/2005 21:57

not 6ft at 1yr he is nearly 20!

hunkermunker · 27/06/2005 21:58

No idea.

Wasn't measured at birth or a year.

zubb · 27/06/2005 22:15

ds1 was 56cm at birth, and 73 at 7.5 months. Now he's 3.5 and still tall for his age.
ds2 was 57cm at birth and 73 at 8 months.

Nemo1977 · 27/06/2005 22:17

ds was 58cm at birth and 79cms at 1yr

mumfor1sttime · 27/06/2005 22:25

Not sure how long at birth as my local hospital dont measure length at birth, but he is long- 70cm and 5.5 months old!

serah · 27/06/2005 23:00

Don't know exactly how long he is now, but at 3 months my ds was just off the chart and at 6 months I have had to go out and buy him some new vests for 12 - 18 months . They are really baggy, but he needs them for his length. Mind you, I'm not exactly short.

mumfor1sttime · 27/06/2005 23:05

Serah- this sounds like my ds he had 6-9 month vests at 3 months because of length- really baggy!

SueW · 28/06/2005 00:07

QoQ aren't boys meant to reach half their adult height by 18mo and girls by 2yo? Or is it 2yo and 2.5yo?

I don't have DD's birth length but she was 62cm at 8 weeks (>98th centile) and off the scale at 4 months (69cm). But at 8yo, she's now settled somewhere round the 75th, where she's been since about 2yo.

eldestgirl · 28/06/2005 00:19

DS1 and DS2 Birth length 51cms
DS1 81cms at 1 year
DS2 83cms at 1 year
Tall boys!

QueenOfQuotes · 28/06/2005 00:20

I think the 'general' rule of thumb (for both sexes) is they're roughly half their adult height at 2yrs old gulp
