Its perfectly normal behaviour, this "away with the fairies", no sense of urgency, the easily distracted and the engrossed in other stuff for a 5/6/7/8 year old.
But it drives me to distraction and results in daily shouting/ screaming from me.

Telling him 20 times to do something like put his shoes on for school in the morning.

So, i really need to rain this in, its not healthy and it does not make for a happy household.

I try to keep instructions short, so "put your coat on"
then 20 times more...put your coat on.

How can i (and every one else out there with this problem) tackle the issue? need practical solutions and suggestions please.

I don't have any answers, I'm afraid. Have a 7yo who is driving me mad, hence on the forums at 9.10 on a Friday night - so you're not alone!

Sometimes I ask her "what should you do now?" when she's getting ready for school and has ground to a halt. She totally knows the routine, I wonder if sometimes she just likes me giving her the attention of constantly being on her case.
