and it is WONDERFUL!

she is now 2.3, and for the last 2.3 years she has been my limpet. Needing me to do everything with her. She has been slowly separating from me and playing for maybe 10 minute periods by herself, but today we have been to a local playgroup, and came back at 12 noon - since then she has played by herself, or with my hand (with a hand puppet on) whilst I cooked lunch, tidied around and -get this - READ MY POST!!

I feel liberated, but also slightly guilty at the free time I am having.

It really is ok to let children play by themselves until they want attention isn't it?

DC has just learnt how to play on his own which means an extra half hour/hour in bed in the morning for me

Well done your DD! I've never really experienced this, having twins, they always had someone to be with. Don't feel guilty at the free time, make the most of it and enjoy it. If she wants you to play, she'll ask and you can always join in anyway.

I am the same! DS learnt a month ago at 2.1 years.

And better still, sometimes DD (age5) and ds even play together a bit!

Finally, I am not having to brummmm a car around the room all the live long day.
