he just is such hard work .
i'm on the computer and he ask can he feed the puffies, (club penguin website), and i say no, its bedtime, in a calm voice, he throws himself back on the sofa and WAILS and i say stop please i said no it means no. no go back to the game with your sister.
more wailing.
so i lose it, and remove him to the utility and he stops extremely loudly, that i'm sure neighbours think allsorts.
i severely give out to him an tell him he is a pest basically. and why oh why am i saying the same thing to him over and over.
he already has been put the stepafter school.

i hate this and i really couldnt be bothered tto show him any interest.
i made gingerbread men with him this afternoon so he got the attention.

he just thinks he is the boss.

and then he ll tell me he loves me and he is sorry.
like what the f ... do i do?

So sorry to hear this - I am having such a similar time with my 4yo. It's so frustrating. I feel like I spend half my time repeating myself and the other half shouting at her.

I've been trying to find the trigger points, so I can avoid them, and I've found that the worse times are when I'm tired and when I'm in a rush. The last few days it's been a bit better because I'm giving myself more time to do things like get ready for school. The other thing I'm doing is not picking up on the small stuff, like when she was eating peas with her hand instead of her fork, I just ignored it.

It's bloody hard, though, isn't it.

you say that he wanted to play on the computer but you did not want him to as it was bed time. And then you told him to go and play with his sister. why did you not put him to bed? that behaviour of his makes me suspect that he was shattered and it was way past his bed time.

my 5 year old turns into a Werewolf if he goes to bed too late. (and DS also loves Penguin Club!!)

iheartdusty · 30/11/2009 10:04

what Numberfour said.

I really don't want to be all judgy, but my 5 yr old DS wants attention most when he's tired at the end of the day. He wouldn't be interested in the fact that I did something nice with him earlier, like baking gingerbread men - by bedtime he's really ready for bed, and wants cuddles and a story.

could you stay off the computer until he's tucked up?

and do you think he's a bit tired generally? again, my DS seems worn out by school, excitement and life generally at the moment.

I'm having a lot of success with the 123 Magic book.

he's not one who doesnt want to go to bed he actually loves it, stories etc.

this is anytime sort of behaviour challenge ii have.
